What is coworking?
Coworking is community, coffee and collaboration for solo professionals. As the workforce in the U.S. and beyond becomes more mobile, independents find that they miss the connections of a traditional office environment. Who is group88 best suited for?
- Home-based professionals who need part-time space away from the laundry, the kids or coffee-shop distractions that affect a productive work day
- Small business owners who need permanent 24/7 access to a small office space (3 offices available)
- Road warriors and solopreneurs who need comfortable, professional meeting and work space
- Conference room and event seekers, a.k.a., local businesses and organizations who need video teleconferencing and presentation/meeting room access for small groups or an alternative option for unique events or workshop space
What is the sign-up process?
To become a member, you will need to fill out a Membership application. After your deposit is paid (see Membership for fee information), you are a full-fledged group88 member. As soon as we are able, all forms and payments will be conducted online.
What payment forms do you accept?
We currently only accept checks (made payable to group88). In April, we will shift to secure online and credit card payments.
When does membership begin?
Membership begins when your application and payment are received.
What is the fee schedule?
Monthly membership fees are invoiced on the first of the month and paid within seven days. Deposits are required for monthly members before using the space. Drop-in passes and bookings for conference room and event space are paid in full before use of the space. Payments are non-refundable after membership begins.
Where is group88?
We are located in Central Connecticut on easily accessible 88 Hopmeadow Street (Route 10) in Simsbury, Connecticut. The group88 space is located in the lower level of The Donaldson Group building in the Hopmeadow Business Park. The parking lot for group88 is straight back and to the right, near Rails to Trails.
What is the difference between an Anchor and Floater membership?
Anchor members have a dedicated, fully-furnished work space with a phone line and 24/7 access in one of the three available lock-and-key offices. Floaters pay to use the group88 work space as a satellite office and according to their membership needs (either full-time or day pass). Floaters can rent a locker to leave materials behind but are unable to claim one of the five work areas (or lounge seats) as their own dedicated space. Go to Membership for specific details.
What perks do Drop-ins get?
Drop-ins get all of the same perks as Floaters for very temporary use of the space.
How do I book the conference room?
Soon, members and non-members will be allowed to book the conference room online through this website. Today, you can view availability online and email Alina Duncan (info@group88.us) to schedule a meeting or event. Your event will appear on the schedule once payment is received.
Do you allow kids or pets?
group88 is pet-friendly. We love kids too but not at group88.
What guidelines do members follow in the group88 space?
As a general rule, members are responsible for helping to keep group88 respectful of noise, hygiene and personal space. If situations arise, more guidelines will be posted here.
